By cheap i'm talking £25 - £30 through a family friend who has these but he has for them and asked me if i could use one.

I know 4670's and that are quite cheap but for a few months use i'd rather not spend £65 or whatever when i'm going to upgrade.

£87

Can't go wrong compared with what you've got. Novatech is a decent place to order, I had a Asus P5Q which wouldn't post and they just swapped it.

Well i guess reading the comments posted that i'm best to go for something better.

So if i can keep some money aside and/or sell my current card as well as other items then i'll go for a 8800GT, 9800GT, HD4670 or simmilar..

I have an X1950XT in my current computer (Ltar). It's a capable card, it'll run GRID and COD4 on or near max @1280*1024, Crysis at med/high, but they don't like to overclock. The onboard BIOS fights overclocking utilities tooth and nail and hard crashes.

For a stand-in card that might not be a problem, but be aware.

I would vote in favor of getting a 3000 series or 4650, DX10 support and at least twice as much processing power. The X1900 series is 3 generations old now.

I have a X1950PRO that just came into my possession. Going to be benching it all night

The X1950GT/Pro is not a bad card. When overclocked I was abled to play Crysis on medium at 1440x900 no AA. It can still play a lot of games on medium settings.

I've given up on taking the X1950. I may try to get a B Grade/open boxed 9800gt 512mb i've seen from overclockers.co.uk which is slightly cheaper than their cheapest 9600gt but it all depends if its still their when i go to get it.

If i can't get the 9800 then i'll go for a 8800,9600 or eqivelent ATI card.

Actulay not realy, there are some bencmarks with X1950XT 512 on realy high resolutions where it beats 8800GTS 320 and 8800GS 384.. For example FEAR, Battlefield 2, NWN2 or Gothic 3.

Overall 8800GS and HD4670 are better than X1950XT, but the difference is realy not that great, your statement "eats alive" is stupid.
