display driver question..

Thread Starter
Sometimes when I'm playing Crysis or Farcry2 with high settings my game crashes. When it goes back to the desktop a bubble appears with a message. It says that my display driver has recovered. What could be causing this?

Can you check the event logs (via System Management) to see if more details about the crash are in there. Try to link the time of the crash with the event time.

Have you got anything overclocked when you play the games?

What are your temps? (CPU, GPU, Case/Ambient)

You gpu has recovered from a serious error and heat is the usual suspect. What I ended up having to do after each of these vpu's was a reboot. My gpu/screen was fubar'd and only a reboot fixed the slow/jaggys. I looked at your case and it seems to have plenty enough places for fans, how many do you have running? Is your 88gs overclocked? Try to play with the side cover off or touch the gpu's top and bottom for temps testing. My 96gt sits under the 98 and it gets hot to the touch. But it is going back for a stepup soon and that problem will go away.

well I did overclock a bit. i had a monitoring program and the temps weren't that high. I was looking closer at the overclocking and I saw that only one out of the two was overclocking.

When I don't overclock it doesn't crash.
