But you're out your flipping mind if you think Crysis isn't more open ended then Gears 2. Infact, any other game for that matter that isn't open world. In Crysis, you choose how you want to get to the objective and complete the objective. Other games, you can rarely ever do that and if you can it is only to a certain extent.

But then again - this has nothing to do with graphics so why you brought this up I will never begin to understand.
He meant becuase there are so many more locales and different objects in the game, the different situations, all that action and different places equals much more on the art design side of things and translating so much more to the game than crysis and it's island and basic same old same old monotony to the levels.

gow2 is the easy pick, arguing best graphics for crysis warhead over gow2 is coming from pc users that have way too much invested to admit more went into an xbox game over something you need over 1000 dollars of gpus to max at high resos.

That (bolded text) is what's called ad hominem.

As for your first paragraph: it's arguable, but I'd still give the best graphics award to Crysis: Warhead. The clearly better visual depiction of the environment(s) in Warhead seem to trump an environment that may be somewhat larger in scope (GoW2). After all, the award in question is "best graphics," not "most graphics."

Crysis has great sunlight rendering and above average details in everything else, and good textures, sure it looks good, but you have to remember that just because of that, doesn't mean it looks the best.

Erm.. It is... Its the same argument as GTA IV, They say the graphics are for future hardware, while there may be a (tiny) bit of truth for Crysis (Did we have the 8800GTX when it came out?) the fact we have only just gotten it maxed at a good res with AA and AF, for people with the top of the line cards in Crossfire or SLI is kind of a give away.. sure it looks good, but they wanted another selling point/get the game out the door faster so they didn't optimize it as much as they could have.

To the people saying Gears of War 1 and 2 look exactly the same.

GoW1

GoW2

Texture differences, World looks more detailed, enemys look more detailed and something those screens don't show is more and better particle effects.

they just changed the lighting and textures a bit, thats all. Two different levels dont make a good comparison either.

I find it hard that a game that is "console" exclusive could win the "best graphics award"

When consoles have 1/8th the GPU power of a high end PC. Even games that are multi plat look even a little better on PC no matter how you slice it.

It is mathematically impossible for a game that is console only to win a best graphics award, Simpley becuase they have much much weaker hardware.

Yeah... CryEngine 2 was and still is the absolute king on the graphics front. You can try to argue otherwise all you want, but at the end of the day...

Look at how powerful desktop hardware is as apposed to console tech. GPUs that cost more than consoles themselves, so having 'the best' visuals comes as no surprise and is kind of a given - But considering the hardware the game is being ran on, yeah, I can see how Gears of War 2 won best visuals.
I'll just quote myself to end this thread once and for all. Obviously you have a lot of hermits angry that their game, I mean... benchmark didn't win 'graphics of the year' - How else will they justify $300 graphics cards every 6 months.

Says the guy with the nearly $300 GPU...

So you're saying that GOW2 is better looking than Crysis?
