Cpu to get with ASUS P5Q Deluxe? (q6600,e84/8500)?

Ok, so my motherboard Sh*% the bed :[ and i thought....well hmm, how about going with intel this time just to try it out, because ive stuck with amd since my last 478 build . I went and looked on newegg and found this motherboard,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131297R

Its an open box so all i really need is the i/o shield right?
Anyway i bought that as ive read its a good overclocking board, and now i am in need of a cpu. Now im not sure whats really going on with the q6600's as i hear they dont overclock well? i also hear the e8400's dont oc well....

those were the two main cpu's i was looking at :/ ive got a budget of $200

I want to sell my phenom and throw a tiny bit in to pay for it.

So.. im not really sure what to get now, i love to game, encode movies, surf the web of course. And occasionally game while encoding a movie. Do you guys think i should go quad or stay with the dual cores. Before you say it, i really dont have the $ for an i7 build so i cant do that lol.

Btw, where should i sell my phenom? sadly i dont have enough rep to post in the for sale section or wanted :[ I would be willing to trade my phenom and pay a little for a q6600 with a nice vid...

hmmm

The E8400 (and its cousins E8500 and E8600) overclocks awesomely. Where'd you hear that?

Since you're encoding, I'd stick with the quad core Q6600.

Depends what you define as terribly. You can pretty much count on getting 3.2-3.3ghz with a decent air cooler. Anything above that it really just depends. You can always look for second hand chips on ebay or something....

Not exactly... newer batches of Q6600's have VID's above 1.300V, and therefore require a lot more voltage just to get it at around 3.6Ghz... I know some people who've gotten lucky and bought new Q6600's from newegg, and have gotten great chips... it just depends what week it was produced... for all you know, they could have a really old Q6600 in the back corner of their storage

Somewhat, some of the newer Q6600's do ok but not like the older ones. Then some OC very poorly. On the E8400 front, I suggest you slap the person spreading such filth!
