Did pencil mod kill my pc? Need help plz!!! - Page 4

I'd compare it to flashing with winflash. Sure, 95% of the time it will work without a hitch, but you still have that 5% chance of bricking your board

I find it incredible that you managed to blow your power supply with a pencil, though. From what you've described you'll most likely need to buy a new one.

Try and check your post before you submit it...
And you may have killed your PSU. I would say its the motherboard as thats what you were modding at the time...?

Do you have a old computer or a friend you may be able to borrow a PSU off. Or maybe a old PC you could try your PSU in... that way you could find out if it works.

I know how you feel. I feel really crappy whenever something happens to my computer. I was just in a car accident and totalled my car on the freeway, so you haven't had the worst Christmas yet! Don't be discouraged and keep troubleshooting the different parts. Take it to your nearest computer store if you can't find the problem.

Sorry i took so long everyone and sorry about your accident. I now think it is my motherboard that is giving the problem and not the psu. I think the motherboard is not generating any power to the psu or vice versa becuase i tried the psu with fans and another computer and it seems to be working ok

It's perfectly fine to do a pencil mod on a motherboard while it is on.

Same thing happened to me, just reset the bios and you should be fine.

Check your instruction book and jump the pins, ensure the system is off when doing this, you can move the jumper or use a screwdriver.

If you do not want to use the jumper take the CMOS battery out and also unplug your system for a few minutes.

There should be two pins on the motherboard labeled clear_cmos and you wan to connect them... Let me find a pic.
