I wonder how much PS2 compatibility cost them exactly...I never did think, and I still don't think, that backwards compatibility is really that important on any console. People seem to lose their frickin minds when you suggest that their new console won't be backwards compatible, but it really is a wildly underutilized feature.

Heh, seems like we get that on OCN a fair amount too. I think we need to ban the emoticon altogether.

I also need to have a physical object. I avoid buying any kind of digital copy when I can.

I was in Gamestop the other day looking for some Christmas presents and almost walked out with a PS3. I'm just not sure how much longer I can resist...

We've only just gotten broadband in our area, I can get about 100kb/sec download speed and a 20gb/month soft-cap. then it costs 0.01euro per MB afterthat.

My country is in the middle of a broadband roll out scheme, but still the majority of homes outside of our major towns and cities do not have access to broadband.

If Blu-Ray does not win more marketshare in the next few years, it may become secondary to download services.
But unfortunately in some countries, the Internet is rather fail and we aren't able to watch whatever we want from the net.

I have a PS3 and am not disappointed in at all - I use it as a media centre and not so much for gaming, just racing games and exclusives. Besides the fact that the 360's GPU is more powerful, thee PS3's cell CPU is apparently (stated by game developers) harder to write for, so while theoretically more powerful than the 360's tri core Xenon, MS makes it much easier to code for with better SDK etc, if you remember it took the PS2 some time for the developers to master the hardware as well - just compare an old PS2 game with a more current one. At the moment, however if you compare a 360 to a PS3 game the 360 will almost certainly look better.

Still wouldn't trade my PS3 for a 360 any day . You can't deny which looks better also - the PS3 is an asset to your home

True that, I have a 40GB PS3 and even though it doesn't have backward compatibility I never really used the backward compatibility thats on my PS2(non-slim 1st generation still cracking!) for PS1 games. Only other game I'd ever play on the PS2 is if I can find(FF7, FF8,FF9, Star Ocean).

For the most part, I use my backwards compatibility for FF10/12. I ripped my FF7/FF9 to PC for emulation because of the graphical improvement over the PS3's upscaling. My PC is connected to my TV anyway. There's a lot of PS2 games I could see myself playing, just not enough time in the day. I still have a fat PS2 hanging around as well.

When it comes to quality gaming, it literally beats the PS3 in every category. So far I am disappointed in my PS3, big time.

May I ask how you pulled that one out of your rear? XD

Not every comparison article or developer will tell you that for starters. Show me links to every kind of comparison and every developer.

Where do you get "better and more detailed graphics and textures from"?

Fast load times? WHAT? All games vary, and the PS3 actually has a faster load time because of the HD installations. And don't reply back "the 360 has it now too" - because thats a recently added option and did not exist until last month. Not to mention, thats not mandatory.

More bandwidth? As in cpu? Im pretty sure you don't mean networking bandwidth, at least I hope you don't - you might as well because you clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

Cheaper price - yeah well, in the long run - it'll cost the same Especially that wireless adapter - what a rip off.

Quality gaming - it beats the PS3 in every category?

Honestly, I've heard bad.... But damn - that was the most biased post I've seen in a loooong time. Thats saying something considering I argue with everyone.
