ati 3850 wrong format

when my brother runs his computer to his sony 46'' lcd 1080p tv it said wrong or bad format. he has to hook up a moniton to reset his resolution every time he reboots his computer. updated drivers and bios same thing happens. whats going on here? any help.

Is it connected through the dvi to hdmi adapter?

Set the res to 1024x768 (or maybe its 1360x768) first while on the monitor. And then hook up to the the teley. Most TV's will display that.

yes thats what hes got to do every time he reboots his computer. then he hooks it up to his tv and set the resolution to 1080. vga cable with a dvi to vga adapter.
