a vendor shipped me an extra part - Page 7

ive never seen so much fuss over such a tiny matter lol, just tell em they sent you something extra and the chances are theyll let you keep it, or theyll just ask for it back on their own heads, (if they ask for it back you could try telling them that youve already opened it)

You have a legal and moral obligation to inform Newegg about the error.

Knowing their customer service, you'd get a label to return send it and a coupon for a future order. They send tens of thousands of orders daily. They will mess up a few times a day. Profiting on their mistake is a crime.

Now, are they going to catch you? Every shipping label that gets shipped out is linked to your account with the weight, time sent, etc. If you ordered a few fans and they see two labels, one of which is 75lbs, they can figure out what happened. But, the chances of that happening are minimal, and they wouldn't pursue a case like that. You should let them know because it's the right thing to do, not because it's a crime to keep it.

I was going to mention the Newegg - Asus Extreme 29.99 incident as well, and how they honored the sales (where people were buying as many as they could, lol) but that incident is a little different. Since it was advertised on the site, Newegg actually had the legal responisbility to honor the sales at the price advertised, even if it was in error. In this situation he received extra merchandise that he didnt order, and that they didnt charge him for (yet). The right thing in this situation, imho, is to play a bit of "cya" and hope for the best. Let them know what happened, they will most likely let you keep it. If they don't, then oh well, you go what you intended and paid for, and theyll pay to ship back the other item. Any of that is better than them finding the discrepancy later, and asking questions. Either way I dont think newegg could do much as it was their f-up (its not like you broke in and stole something), but it might feel good to have done the right thing, regardless of if you are rewarded or not.

good luck

I going to have to agree with everyone else, and call the egg and let them know the situation, you never know they may even let you keep the case It would be a great xmas gift for your honesty. One thing I know is you don't want to mess with karma, because what goes around comes around

Karma is not something to mess with. I would call them and explain what happened. If they let you keep it Merry Christmas. If they send you a paid label then you are back to what you orginally ordered. Shear ethics and morals should lead you to the right decision.
