I can't uninstall Gears of war on my PC!!! GOW is an EPIC FAIL!!!

Well, i'm having some serious problems with my PC right now:

I wanted to play this game but, suddenly, when trying to run it, i found out that the folerds where the game was supossed to be installed were gone, yes, gone...

I was impressed, so I decided to re-install the game and when executing the installation program from the GOW disc, it said: "Unindetified exception. Error number: 0x80040702 description: Failed to load DLL: GameuxInstallHelper. Installation is now going to end.

The strangest is that the option to uninstall the game is still on the control panel...

I don't know what to do and i'm getting very confused... anyone knows why this is happening? how can I uninstall it?

Hi, you may want to try CCleaner

http://www.ccleaner.com/

It has a whole registry/program uninstaller and imo is better then using the standard add/remove from the control panel. It should get rid of whatever nasty bits are left.

Then try to reinstall it.

If your still having the issue, try using ccleaner again in safe mode. may have a btter effect.

Give it a shot. Let me know.

well, only way this can happen is just by deleting the folder and not properly uninstalling, only way to fix it IS to reinstall it and then uninstall

Dude...

When I run setup.exe on the disc, it asks me to uninstall the game...

that just won't work

As I said, the folders suddenly dissapeared, I think my brother deleted some of the folders...

anyway I don't want to blame anyone, I just want to fix this because, I can't even re-install, if there is a way to reinstall everything without uninstalling please tell me...

Find the reg keys and delete them. Delete the game too.

Delete the Microsoft Games folder in regedit in Local Machine, and then try installing again.

If that doesn't work, try running the installer by not installing through autorun.

hmm. I did a bit of searching and it appears your not alone with this very same problem. Has something to do with the way the game embeds itself all over your computer when it installs

I got this from another forum

Quote:
"In my case. I just deleted all the Gears of War folders I could find, but somehow it didn't go away (even used registry cleaner). After that, I tried pressing Uninstall and it went on, but.

Got the error: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: FirewallInstallHelper (Not GameuxInstallHelper)
Setup will now terminate.

So I mounted the cd, then took the file FirewallInstallHelper.dll and posted it in the original Gears of War Folder.

In my case, CrogrammerMicrosoft GamesGears of War .. Then went on with the Uninstall, and it worked !?

A bit confusing, but might work .. "
I dont know if you want to try this but i figure youve got nothing to lose.
