What's the occassion? You already missed Black Friday and the holiday sales. Can you wait? The next times to shop for TVs are: after X-mas sales, Super Bowl, and HD Conversion (Feb 19th).
Once again...

DuckieHo is right - if you can wait a little bit you'll be able to catch some sales.

I just looked at Best Buy's website and they have a 32" Toshiba LCD for $479 which would be ok.

If you qualify, Best Buy often has 0% same as cash financing. If you pay it off before the end of the promotion, you can usually get a pretty sweet deal. Just divide the total purchase price by the number of months the financing deal is good for (usually 12-24 months) and make payments of that size over that time span. I've done that twice before (old TV and my dirt bike) and am currently doing it again on a new TV.

However, if you can't budget that amount, then don't do it 'cause the interest usually accrues and you'll get socked with a huge bill the month after the promotion interest rate is over.

I have one of these in my dorm room. It's a 32" Vizio from walmart, it's almost always sold out online but they always have them in the stores around here.

I have $500 cash, i don't want to make payments, otherwise i would go for something a bit nicer, and is toshiba a reliable brand?

32-inch VIZIO for $479 @ Wal-Mart. It looked great, I was surprised at how great they look compared to the Samsungs, Toshibas and Sony Bravias. It look better to me actually.

Edit: Wow, Vizios are quality entry level TVs - There are better ones but they cost a lot more.

I just picked up a Sharp 32" for about that price from walmart, also a present for my parents. Checked it out at the store and the specs were decent and the picture looked great.

I have the 42" Dynex 1080p TV from BestBuy. I got it on sale for $597 and I would say if you can get together another $100, you can get an excellent TV.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1201306784758

Up in price now, but it goes on sale all the time. 127 reviews and 4.4 stars

I've had a Vizio 37" LCD 720P HDTV since last year and I love it. Lots of inputs and a great picture for the price.
