The real laptop it should be trying to compete with is the X301, which is the current class leader.

Not really. The Air is proof that a company doesn't need something to be better than a given product to sell, it only has to be cooler.

If they can combine the quality and functionality of the X300/301 with the looks and style of a MacBook Air, it would hopefully be a winner.

For the record, I feel that no notebook can hold a candle to the sleek, sexy, and simplistic look of all the Lenovo/IBM Thinkpads, but many people feel otherwise.
