Xbox 360 wont work with my LCD

Hey guys. I have the HD VGA cable for the XBOX360 and im connecting to a small LCD monitor 15". It should work in theory as it works on an old 15"tv lol. Anyway the fact is when its all connected and I boot the console up the screen remains blank and stays in power saving mode.

Am I missing something ?

You may have to manually set it for the screen by going into the system tab and just trial and error because I do not know the T.V you are trying it on, i will guess try 480 first and go up from there.

Hmm well I think it was on 480 anyway due to my TV but I can give it a go...just rather frustrating.

Any other ideas are very welcome.

It usually automatically sets itself to the standard resolution of the display device so it might just be a compatibility issue.

I bought a cheap Xbox VGA cable from eBay (from China) and it didn't work at first and then it started working, but now that it's working the image has ghosting on it.

Did you buy the official Xbox cable or the cheapy one?

You can reset the Video settings for the 360. Follow this:

Reset your Xbox 360 console
Finally, if the issue is still not resolved, reset the display settings of your Xbox 360 console. To reset the display settings to the default settings, follow these steps:

1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
2. Turn off the console.
3. Turn on the console.

Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.
4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.

Well at first I thought I had bought the offical cable....later to find out after getting it that it was a 3rd party that had nearly exact packaging as the official one....very cheeky. I will try the above and if not then I will get an official cable !

If you do plan on buying an official cable I have 1, I spent $40 on it but now that I own a TV I don't need it anymore.. used maybe 3 times cause it was the BIGGEST pain in the ass to unhook all my computer stuff to hook up my xbox, if you want to discuss it sometime.
