It depends on the applications you are using and how they utilize memory. Games tend to benefit more from lower-latency memory, because other than the initial loading of the game, they perform many random reads and writes of small amounts of data. Applications tend to prefer bandwidth over latency, because they typically work with large sets of data where the higher bandwidth helps.
