Virus help, Already tried Avast! and SpyBot

Thread Starter
So my dad/sister's PC has some nasty stuff on it.

Constant popups, porn adds, all that good jazz. They aren't very smart.

I tried SpyBot Search and Destroy, it found some stuff, but the adds didn't stop.
I ran an Avast boot scan and one in windows and nothing.
Avast detects the virus (says it's a Trojan), I hit delete or move to chest and nothing happens, it can't touch it.

What else should I try before I just say screw it and reinstall windows.

I don't believe you can really do much but reinstall. You could try restoring to a time when it wasn't virused. But your best bet will be to just reinstall.

Hahaha, Spybot is not going to help you at all.

Use something better like Nod32 or AVG to help remove stuff.

Also use CCleaner frequently.

Try SuperAntiSpyware. It's free and works great to remove spyware/trojans ect.

Yeah, that's why I went to Avast next.

I was thinking AVG as my next step since Avast isn't doing a helluva lot hah.

I'd like to avoid system restoring, this has already wasted enough of my damn time for something stupid.

Boot in Safe Mode and try scanning and deleting there (with AVG, or Nod32, etc)

i didn't say do a system restore, i said turn system restore off-- its where a lot of "crap" likes to hide, because it's in a "folder" that only the windows kernel has access too.
