Malware Bytes cleans up a lot of spyware. Delete all temp. files prior to scanning. Do a full scan in safe mode. Then scan again after it reboots.

Does Avast tell you were the Trojan is?

If so, go and delete it yourself and rescan.

^^ If avast tells you the name of the trojan you can delete it with Kaspersky! LINK

Screw it, and reinstall Linux. They'll never get a virus again. They might not even notice the change.

If that's not an option, I suggest installing Kaspersky or Avast or some other anti-virus and anti-spyware, and disabling access to IE and Outbreak Express (Windows Mail) and force them to use Firefox and Thunderbird.

Grab Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware install in normal mode, then boot to safe mode and run a full scan. You could also try Clamwin.

Alternatively, grab linux and run a virus scan checker.

I gotta agree with some of the previous posts, Ive used Malwarebytes lately for a few nasty things on rigs and its worked very well. My grandma and cousin both managed to get this Antispyware 2009 virus and malwarbytes hosed it right away when avg did nothing. So its totally worth a shot. Go for it and good Luck

Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware doesn't completely fix it. There are a few reg keys you need to manually fix. Just in case you didn't.
