Hello people, I have my e7200 running at 3.6ghz and 1.25 vcore. Last night I pushed it to 3.8ghz and also 1.25 vcore. It ran orthos smallFFTs for nine hours and was fine. Then today I ran occt for a few minutes and it froze, and upon restart blue screened a couple times and I upped the voltage to 1.3 vcore. At 1.3 vcore after a few minutes of occt, realtemp is 63 degrees! That is getting a little hot. Even at 3.6ghz and 1.25 vcore my cpu seems to be a little hot, it idles at around 38 and under load for a couple hours gets to about 62 degrees. I have a question about temps, thermal paste and lapping! I used the Zalman paste that came with my cooler. Should I use a different kind of thermal paste and reseat my heat sink? Also, when I applied it, I spread out the paste on the cpu and the bottom of the heat sink... just a thin layer. Was I supposed to put it on the heat sink? Cuz I read it from "MaximumPC" Magazine, but I heard some people just use a rice grain size and press the heastsink down or spread it with a plastic glove or something. Last but not least, do you think it would help if I lapped my cpu??? Cuz I just watched TJ Harlow do it on youtube, and I have heard about it before. This was my first PC that I actually built my self. I kinda didn't want to go through the trouble of reseating my heat sink or lapping my cpu, but if you think it would help then please give me your advice. My specs are in my sig, thank you!!!
