What specs are the RAM and what VID is your chip?

Please also fill out your system specs under User CP (The top bar) and then Add System (Left Bar).

I will help you around 9-10GMT I need to get some sleep.

Really the best way to figure out how to do these things is read, read, read, and test.

See what works for your board and your chip, see what you can do without making it too hot or running too much voltage. And ALWAYS keep an eye on things that could damage your components, especially heat.

If someone just walks you through it you honestly aren't liable to learn as much as intuitively going through the trial-and-error process yourself.

If you do attempt to overclock keep the temps under 60'c if its a B3 and under 70'c if its a G0 stepping.

Keep the vCore under 1.5v

thanks so much
i have mushkin ram 4gb 2gbx2gb original timing is 4-4-5 i currently have it at 5-5-5-18
Gigabyte - GA-EP35-DS3L
guess you saw that in my signature

link is for my ram
i have a video card made my gecube with 4 dvi outputs
http://www.gecube.com/products-02.ph...rod_cat_id=216

i have pushed the cpu voltage up one level from like 1.32 to 1.33 and the ram +.1 or something that's all

what is the highest level to raise the cpu voltage to for a q6600 to run stable and not burn it out... i want to run this for a year or something maybe... i have already had it a year... but need to keep it

Intel recommends nothing higher than 1.5v for their 65nms cpus

Try to keep it under 1.5v, but 1.55vcore can start to truely kill the 65's. 1.50~1.55 is just a couple years off, but who keeps their CPU's for 7 years?

cool.. ok i know safe limits for the q6600.... if i get it up to like 3.4 or something... is it bad for the chip if it doesn't have enough voltage or something?

should i just try to look up my ram manufacture or something and look for safe voltage levels? im just trying to get a feel for what the max is... i just want to get to a really good safe overclock and leave it... thanks so much for your replies wish I would have done this a year ago i can tell such a difference from 2.4 to 3.0 now
i see people going to 4.0 on air... what is really the place to stop with the q6600? right now my cpu is ideling at between 38 and 33 between the 4 cores... i haven't really stressed it yet... i will do that now

I would go to 3.4 or 3.6 on the core and keep the vcore under 1.5 you should be able to do this no prob. You could try to tighten the timings on your ram too just run OCCT for you overclock on the cpu to make sure its stable here is the link:

Thanks... stressing right now - looks like 57c is about as high as its going at 3.0ghz... I do run photo programs that will max cpu's @ 100% for up to 20 minutes... so I will look at that link you sent me now, and then restart and go up a little.

Im not all that sure about downloading that program.. but what the heck.. I am the one asking for help right. its running now - im stoked!
