Help me on my X-Mas Present. - Page 2

If you've never build a PC, I highly advice to get someone who did next to you, unless you're in for a few hours of reading - and maybe troubleshooting. The problem with pre-built PCs are in my order: crappy mobos, crappy PSUs, cheap RAM, noisy and with low cooling capacity. If you target the same quality (not performance) it is impossible not to make it a lot cheaper by buying the parts yourself. For the same budget, if buying them yourself, you should end up with a much smoother rig.

Now there are many people here that can advice you of the best config, since I'm from Europe I'm less able to do so. For games laptops don't cut it - put a lappy and a tower side by side that were the same price - there's no comparison and for a good reason. Games are highly dependent of the graphic cards and not the processors - lappys could have good CPUs, but they severely lack graphics power.

If you link me to the site you are using I can put together a nice build. Newegg is generally cheaper, but if you want to pick-up I would understand.

Right, heres what I would do -
CPU -
E8400

MOBO-
Gigabyte P45-UD3P

RAM-
OCZ 4GB

HDD-
Seagate 500GB

GPU-
9600GT

PSU -
Earthwatts 430w

Case -
Antec 300

OS -
Vista Home Premium 32

TOTAL - $687.92

That would be a really nice build.
If you want some extra games performance grab a HD4830 or a HD4850 from newegg
