hey all

just got the 9700-LED CPU cooler from Zalman and for some reason the fan is only going 2678 instead of 2800 (it's on max) and all so i have a core 2 duo E8400 not overclocked and it idles on 45-50 and lode is 55-61 i put the thermal grease on right i know that because i got a guide from the net before hand.

so if anyone knows how to get then fan going faster or lower the temps plzz tell me

cheers ryan

Like Jeffmizrahi said, whats your ambient temp? Have you tried reseating, and what TIM are you using. I'm using the Zalman 9700 with AS5 for the TIM on a q9450 and my temps don't go over 53 in prime, ambient temp in room and case is about 22C.

The Zalman 9700 should of come with a fan controller, if you install that, you should be able to get a higer speed out of the fan.

Edit: Never mind, I just checked mine, it's the same, even with the controller.

It's actually less since it goes through more cable (resistance) and a variable resistor for the controller itself.

If it's just 2700RPM instead of 2800RPM I wouldn't worry about it. That's well within tolerances.
