How to get 3.2mhz out of i7 920? - Page 2

Depending on your RAM, you might be able to get away with simply raising the bclock to 160MHz and be done with it.

Hmm... I can achieve 3.8GHz stable with the stock cooler?

Good luck. The record for CPUZ is 7mhz with a pentium 1.

Not possible.

With a quad even runing 1mhz you will still have 4 cores 4x1= 4mhz

I usualy push 4.4ghz with water.

Wow I'll end this OP mhz is mega hertz as in 3mhz is well that speeds back in 1992 or older i think you meant GHz as in Gigahertz 3.2GHz cause 3mhz you will be slowing your i7 signifcantly slow. go into your BIOS usually delete key when starting up your pc and just look around there like cpu feature, dram, voltage setting and cpu feature stuff like that.

I actually overclocked it to 3.2 with the stock cooler.
All I did was change the BCLK in Manual Mode.

But the system seems slower and more shoddy then a auto default boot up.
So I ordered the Cooler Master whatever V8. I did Prime95 on that overclock and my cpu reached 80C. Also I was losing complete objects like people and cars in GTA IV. So Now I'm back at stock. Its running great without an OC. So My guess is that when I change BCLK and the motherboard compensates by doing something to my memory settings. And doing something bad. theres just so many options there needs a precise guide for achieving different Overclocks. EVGA did it can someone at Overclock.net do it lol. Not being pushy but Ya i know 3.2mhz is low. You can laugh all you want but the fact is I own an i7 haha. But 4.0mhz is almost double. Wouldn't I risk my chip and motherboard. Isn't it bad on the chip to do more than its norm>?

Also Its not that simple to get 3.2mhz because theres also the problem of all the other settings that will be changed like the memory DDR3 timings and what not. wouldn't that ruin it all. corsair xms3 is there a guide to optimize speed for this as well?
