Computer Crashing

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Need some help with a recent build. Whenever counterstrike source goes into a stress test or is played for a period of time up to 2 hours it crashes and restarts. However this computer runs
3dmark06 perfectly. Atm the computer is running stock standard. The specs are as follows

-asus p5ql-pro mobo
-e5200 dual core
-thermaltake tuffpower 600w
-asus en9800gt g/card
-corsair dd2 667mhz vs1gb667d2

Also when in game and the microfone key is pressed the ping will jump from around 60 and will keep increasing up too 800 + if held.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

when you're in CSS, you should add net_graph 3 and see if anything else changes, like choke or loss (regarding the mic problem)

Temps are around 48 degrees idle and dont seem to come up hardly anything in the stress test. The heatsink and fan has not been removed from factory. Any other suggestions?

The netgragh is up it shows a normal ping minimal choke and loss but when you hit the microphone key the ping goes through the roof.

could it be the amount of airflow through the case?

Airflow is ample. Its a THERMALTAKE V9 case with 3 fans, 1 front, 1 rear and a 23cm fan on top. The computer runs 3dmark06 fine, which is definately more hardcore than the counterstrike source stress test. The counterstrike source test only runs for maybe 1min 30 seconds and crashes restarting the pc only a minute in. 3dmark runs for around 7 minutes with no problems and more intense graphics. We ran memtest over night to check to see if we got some dud ram or something but it returned no errors. Really lost on this one guys and would appreciate all advice.
