I'd recommend against cheaping out on a G31 mobo, any decent P35/P45 should be good though. If you don't mind open box, something like this would be awesome GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L

The Antec Basiq is a pretty mediocre psu, I'd recommend something a bit higher quality. The VX550 is great but you could probably get by with something cheaper (haha sorry I don't have any in mind ). However, at the moment the 650TX is only $2 more on Newegg so you might as well get that.

As for the heatsink, Xigmatek S1283 or OCZ Vendetta 2 or Sunbeam Core Contact. They're all pretty much the same, just get the cheapest . I'm not sure about the other 2 but with the Xigmatek, you'll want to buy the retention bracket, link.

Also, no reason to buy XP at this point, go for Vista 64-bit
thanks again GREENMAN, whats this thing about bolt though thing? i really like that board and will be getting that, vista 64 bit huh? sounds sexy i have always wanted to try vista.

The Xigmatek comes with a push-pin system to attach it to the board which is a PITA. Not to mention, it doesn't attach it with very much pressure so your cpu temps may be a bit higher. The retention bracket rids of all that by simply using screws

he means that the default way of mounting the S1283 is by using plastic push in pins which are not very good because
1. They are hard to push in correctly
2. They are not as reliable as other mounting techniques
3. They break after taking the heat sink on and off a lot of times
4. and they dont put as much pressure on the cpu which means the heat transfer is less efficient hence higher temps.

vista x64 is the way to go since you are gonna use 4GB ram.

E5200 will be good. Get the CPU cooler that I have in my sig- you can OC that thing to 3.5ghz upwards easy, according to reviews I've read.

Ide highly recommend you getting a better graphics card.. Maybe a 9800 GTX+. Really good bang for the buck right now. Or find a GTX 260 / ATI HD 4870 on sale
This is a VERY good deal, if you can afford it, but doubt it: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...A&promoid=1048
Off the same site earlier today there was a GTX 260 for $219 CAD.. too bad it's gone now

You don't need that good of a power supply- even a 500W will do you fine

Operating system depends on your taste- go with win xp pro 64-bit or home premium 64-bit.
Whichever one you like more.
