Is your EVGA by any chance ???... most of the bad overclockers ive read about are EVGA cards

I think buying any pre OCd card in any form is asking for trouble.

Ive had now 3 "stock" ASUS cards,

8600gt 9600gt and the GTX260 and ALL of them have been OC monsters, they go so high and so hard and never get a mention on any of these forums!

i did pay a little more for mine though, i guess the factory OCed cards can handle more than the vanilla versions..??

i can game with these settings all day long but vantage always crashes 8 mins in , but im not bothered if it don't artifact......

i run my stock clocks anyway but this is what she will do....

sorry bump wiggy,

core 716, mem 1171, shad, 1495

I just lowered it then as I saw minor artifacting in fallout 3 @ 1980 x 1020 all on ultra super mega high settings.

Someone I recall saying here the 260 has no performance gain with overclocking, this is BS, as when I would hit V for VATS in fallout I would lag, sometimes up to a full second before it kicked in, after the OC, no lag, ever, hitting V in fallout @ 1980 x 1020

werd....ASUS is the bomb for this kinda crap, no seller in my town has any EVGA or XFX or BFG or any of this other stuff I keep hearing about, all we have is ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI, And I must say the GIGABYTE GTXs look DOPE SAUCE!

Im now thinking that its not my card and that the problem is driver/software related... ive been doing some tests and it seems to be only crashing in certain games... Dead Space,DiRT,COD4...

Ive just ran some benchmarks with 722/1512/2490 (it crashes in the games mentioned above at much less clock speeds) and its been fine with 3DMark Vantage, Devil May Cry 4, World In Conflict, GRID, UT3, CODWaW, Crysis, Far Cry 2, GTA IV...

What do you guys think ???? If it was my card then it would crash with all my games wouldn't it ????

Have you tried ATITool and its 'Scanning Artifacts' option? That is what I use to determine my GPU stability.

Mine shows artifacts in ati tool at what I think are low clocks. I have fan speed set to 52% (the loudest that I can stand) and I get artifacts in a minute or two at 700 core. I tried 690,680, and finally settled for 670. Temps never exceeded 76°c with any of these clocks when artifacts began to appear.

Since then it has been folding steadily at 670/1200/1444 for the last week or so at a constant 77°c. I want to add it to my loop but I don't think it will help me overclock it any better since it artifacts before temps even rise.
