7750 Black Edition - Page 3

With no ACC, (SB750), you are kind of limiting your overclock. But I've gotten pretty good overclocks on Nvidia boards myself. Push that SUCKER!

Well, I think I'm going to drive myself crazy trying to use a budget MB (although one of high quality) like an enthusiast MB.
After killing my OS with bad settings, I'm going to shelve this 730a MB for an upgrade of my HTPC.
Any particular recommendations for a more OC-friendly board for this CPU? I've been pretty impressed with EVGA nonetheless, so I may just step up to an SLI-capable model.

Get an AMD-chipset board. Any 790GX/FX with the SB750 will do well with overclocking that chip. Personally not a big fan of NVIDIA at the moment because I've had my butt kicked repeatedly because of driver issues.

Thread Starter
Well, so far it's fairly stable at 3.3 GHz with 1.45V vcore: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=472911

I also tried 3.36 with the same vcore and was able to do this:

.... with mem voltage at 2.0V and chipset voltage at 1.3V.... I had shut down Orthos shortly after that, but when I tried to run Orthos again later, it kept freezing at about the 5-7 minute mark. That's when I pulled it back to 3.3, because now it seems anything over that will freeze in Orthos or OCCT after a few minutes. I know I'm probably missing something obvious, but any ideas?

Great thread - can't wait to see more results.

I have mine running at 3.0 GHz, idles at 35C, load can hit up to 50C.
Stable with Prime95 running blend for about 4 hours.

Voltages:
NB: 1.1V
SB: 1.2V
Memory: 2.1V
CPU: 1.275V

My board has an AMD 780G NB and SB700 SB. I'll look into overclocking it more.
Good luck winginit.

Managed to stabilize it at 3.2GHz but had to increase the voltage to 1.375V. Can't seem to get it stable at 3.3GHz because my cooler is crap, limiting any voltage increases. The slightest voltage increase and the temps shoot up.

The chip does seem to like extra volts though. With the right cooler you might be able to push it farther.

can you show us a few benchies @ 3.2Ghz? I'm thinking about just grabbing one to play around with, but if it's not going to be much of an increase over my 5000, i won't bother.

Clock for clock the 7750BE is about 20% faster than the equivalently clocked Brisbane cores.

I want to know because I get around a 28s superpi with my current settings, yet I was reading a online bench of the 7750 and it only got 24s @ 3.5Ghz.
With a Vcore of 1.375, my temps (using this **** cooler) can hit up to 65C. It topped out at 65C using Prime95. I removed the overclock shortly after testing with Prime95 because of that. Didn't run any benchmarks.

Perhaps a user with a better cooling system can post some results.

EDIT - I can post some results at my current overclock - 3.0GHz with 1.275V Vcore. Hardware is my sig rig. Temps hit a max of 50C, and a low of 30C. I'll post something when I get home from work.

What kind of benchmarks did you want me to look at?
