I mean back in the day of Pentium 4s with 3.2ghz with 2mb of L2, it still took them 36+ sec to do a 18 loops of 1Million digits. So as of right now, 3.0ghz intels are pushing 14-15 sec 1M, while 3.0ghz AMDs even with the 3mb L3 are still pulling only what 27-28 seconds.
at this point I'd say it's only a decent benchmark for like manufacture chips (intel vs intel, amd vs amd)
