OCed Q6600 3.2ghz running extremley slow!! Please help me.

PC
Mother Board: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
Processor: Intel Q6600
Heat Sink: Arctic Freezer 7 Pro
Video Card: ATI 1800xt 512MB
Memory: G.Skill DDR2 800 (2 x 1GB) F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ
Hard Drive: Western Digital 160GB SATA
Case: Cooler Master 690

I forgot exactly what the clock settings are on my computer and am currently out of town with a laptop so if you need the settings it wont be until Monday.

So I decided to build this computer to run some of the newer games that my P4 couldn't run. This is my third computer build but my first overclock. I had such high expectations for this new computer but after the build I was very disappointed. The problem is, starting up programs take FOREVER and I'm not just impatient. I'll start a simple program like Firefox and can count to 20 before it even pops up. What I find odd is after a program starts it will run fine without being sluggish at all. I can run WOW, WAR, Crysis, Counter-Strike, etc. all at high settings without having any performance issues.

Use only the necessary start up programs.
Defraged several times.
Ran Registry Mechanic several times.
Run Bit Defender anti-virus daily.

I just don't know what the hell the problem is. This computer has ran like **** from the first day it was put together. I was kind of thinking it might be the hard drive becuase it was just a cheap $35 WD I got on ebay, but I really have no idea. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank you!

Run MemTest to test memory and HdTach to test your hard drive. If both of those test fine, scan for viruses and spyware, or reinstall your operating system.

Sounds like a hard drive problem. Check the following:

Make sure the "slow" jumper has been removed from the drive.
Make sure SATA mode is set to AHCI / Native in BIOS.

have you considered formating and doing a fresh install? that might fix your slow pc ... also are you running on windows XP? that could also explain it since xp aint as fast as vista after a while of use

Did you benchmark at stock or jump right into the OC?

Rule out the OC.

No I did not benchmark at stock. I should have but I was in to much of a rush to OC.

I defrag all the time and it doesn't help.
