How do you go about using Lan to start and stop a computer?. The case I just built my new server in is old and the power button is busted (lol).

You could just short the power pins with a screwdriver to start it instead. Or buy a new switch? I'm sure either of those would be way easier. I believe there is a way to do what you want to do (seen it in my bios options about wake up on LAN), but I'm sure that'd be more complicated.

Yes, but doing that constantly is a pain. And if you use to much force you could break the pins.

Besides, I would like to have something setup on my personal pc to ping the server to see if it is online and if its down, restart it.

you could do " power by keyboard and/or mouse." I don't know about your motherboard but mine has an option to power up with the keyboard / mouse. pretty neat-o
