Whatever happened to AMD's plans to release 3.2ghz+ Phenom II's ?. I thought at first that was the X4 II 945 but that's just a DDR3 AM3 3ghz 940 model.

I'm surprised they packed 8mb of cache on it, Phenom had what, 2?

So if things go like they say they will, I should wake up on friday to a $299 Phenom II 940 Black Edition sitting on newegg?
I can live with that

The 3.0Ghz is a Black Edition, the 2.8Ghz is not.

The shrink to 45nm allowed a lot more room for cache on the K10.

AMD must be drunk only having two - they need a 3rd!
Fixed.

Maybe AMDs multipliers are different across the variants.

Edit: The Phenom II 940 is a BE so that means the multiplier is unlocked isn't it?

I think he meant noticeably cheaper. I reckon it should be 70% of whatever the cheapest i7 is to stay competitive. Although for those who are just upgrading their CPU I'm sure they won't mind paying more. BUt yeah these are the first prices, should settle a lot lower hopefully.
