I'm surprised they packed 8mb of cache on it, Phenom had what, 2?
Phenoms had 2MB of L3 cache, L2+L3 combined gives 4MB. Phenom II has 6MB of L3 cache, and L2 cache remains the same (512KB per core), so it comes to a total of 8MB cache.

So it's like comparing 6 vs 2 or 8 vs 4, but you can't compare 8 vs 2

Not to mention that this stuff in general costs more over here in Australia, even back when AUD and USD were pretty much the same we generally paid up to 20% more than US for same components (Q6600 here, for example, went for around $240 when newegg had the same CPU listed right below $200...). So, the price in the US *may* turn out to be even less...

Noticed this after you made mention of it .

Yeah, they're not as high as I thought.

AUD? One store is in Canada (the expensive one) and the other in the US.

On the other hand, prices need to go down a little. Current indications that the 940 (easily OCed) is ~$300, 920 being ~$260.

IMHO it should be 280/240 instead, with the 920 undercutting all 45nm 9k Core 2 Quads for max impact. AMD still earns quite some money this way.

Did everyone forget that AMD was releasing X2s that were only 100MHz apart? That's only a different of 0.5x multi!
