I need to upgrade my pc

Thread Starter
I want to upgrade my computer.

I need a better motherboard... I currently use a old 650i and I cannot get to a stable 3.0 overclock on my 2180. I think the culprint is the mobo.

Also, I don't know if I should upgrade to 4 gigs of ram but I want to run Vista 64 bit.

I'm not a heavy power user, mostly light gaming and work so everything else about my rig I'm happy with for now... if I found a good deal I would like to go quad though.

So basically, what mobo and ram do you recommend? I don't care for SLI so the cheaper the better to me.

Thank you.

For a motherboard, if you are willing to use a micro-ATX, this one should be good for you
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128357

It is inexpensive, and a relatively good overclocker.

for ram,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122

should suit you. it is dirt cheap, fast, and has a 5 egg rating with 1000+ reviews. but really, anything on this page
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20(PC2%206400)

should work just fine.

Good luck with the upgrade!

This is the mobo that seems to be the darling of OCN at the moment:
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P $137@NewEgg
And this on is a bit cheaper:
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L $100@NewEgg 1xPCI-E

And this RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122 $39.99

A specific budget would help too.

Thanks, I wanted a regular ATX sized board and I was wondering whether a $50 dollar open box Gigabyte will do the job.
