Large price difference? Grab the cheaper one (which I'm assuming is the Q6600)

Between the Q6600 and the Q9400, I would have to take the Q6600 for its larger cache. The Q9400 might overclock slightly higher, but the smaller cache will hold it back in real world performance.

If you can find a Q9450, then buy that instead. (Intel discontinued the Q9450 and replaced it with the Q9400 which has half the cache. I don't get it either.)

I don't believe in a such a big performance difference between a 6mb cache and 8 mb cache ( Q6600 is 8mb if i am not mistaken ). Even there's a difference it's not much effective than 2.6Ghz instead of 2.4

Q9400 eats Q6600 in breakfast at default. Even when you OC I don't know why but Q9400 at 3.4Ghz is faster than Q6600 at 3.6Ghz...I don't really have any logical explanation to that but it really is...

Q9450 of course better than both with its 12mb cache...

I would try to find a Q9450 and go for it..
