Phenom 9950 - 50C idle 1.3V

hi!

i think my cpu is way too hot comparing to other setups i looked at.
my Phenom 9950 idles at 50C with only 1.3V running through it. its in antec 900 case, ASUS Silent Knight working flat out 2500rpm (CnQ off) & 250mm fan right on top of CPU cooler working on full power as well. with 3x120mm fans sucking air in, ambient temps are low.
first i thought my AS5 didnt apply well, then i reapply it with no difference on temps. then i thought my GPU is right below the processor maybe making it hot - i ran GPU fan on 100% for few minutes & reached 30C, but CPU temps stayed the same.
now i'm out of ideas as i only overclocked it slightly without even changing the voltages (when i do 1.35V it idles at 55C). i tried giving it stock voltage and had the same temps.
when i do OCCT tests it easily reaches 70C with all my case fans 100% spinning & window opened.

BIOS (if it helps):
ACC - off
CPU Tweak - on
CPU VDDA - 2.6V
SB - 1.3V
NB - 1.3V
PCIe - 1.3V
HT - 1.3V

is there anyone else having same hot chip or i'm the only one???

That cooler isn't very good anyway but you definately can't on mounted it correctly.

Try a remount again and if that doesn't help, grab a perfectly flat surface like a razor blade and see if the base of the cooler is flat or concaved.

If it isn't flat then you can either lap it yourself or buy something better.

i just remounted it yesterday - still same temps. i used this cooler on my previous setup, and my Athlon 4400+ ran 10C cooler.

in fact i previously tried putting more than needed of AS5 thinking there could be a gap but still didnt see any difference

my cooler is very similar to Zalman version and it always gave me better temps on previous CPU. the rig is next to the window with winter air sneaking in...
what temps you have on stock cooler?

still thought 50c is hot! it should be about 35 with that cooler.

To OP what are your temps in the bios? my AMD mobo reads 15c hotter in windows than in bios.

edit: wait you have it OC'd, yeah thats about right then.

You are now on a 9950 Quad... Not some below average dual core.

You need a cooler up to the job.
