To OP what are your temps in the bios? my AMD mobo reads 15c hotter in windows than in bios.

edit: wait you have it OC'd, yeah thats about right then.
well in bios its only about 5C lower. but the OC is very insignificant. I want to give it more voltage and go 3150, but as soon as i up 1.3V by one increment my temps become crazy...

Ya yours does seem actually hot, because your only at 1.3 vcore.

When I had my Zalman 9500 the temps were in the upper 40s. Around 46-48C. Your cooler seems like the same design , but made out of aluminum which doesnt conduct heat as efficently. So from my point of view it seems normal your chip would run @ 50C.

I was unhappy with my cooler and went with the Fire extinguisher. Now my temps are down to 33C at idle with 3Ghz OC @ 1.325v.

definetly a happy camper.

This is the cooler that I use. Also Lapping the cooler and the cpu will drop it as well. If you change to this cooler and lap the processor and the cooler then you should get temps in the low 40s Idle.

My 9950 had a hump right in the center of the processor and I after I lapped it I saw a 4 C lower idle temp.

Note. before lapping computer take a good picture of the numbers on the top of your cpu. They will disappear and you will need them on occasion for stepping purposes.

thanks for the "lapping" advice. to be honest never heard of it before you mentioned. might as well do that - makes sence in the way... why don't manufacturers make CPUs flat in the first place!?

it could be a stupid question, but i have to ask:
after lapping CPU & cooler, should i use thermal compound?
also since i loose about 1mm from both surfaces, making cooler having less force against CPU, will it make it wobbly?

cool lemme know how the laping turns out and if it solves your problem. im runnoing at 3 ghgz 1.3750vcore and prome 95 running for 20 min at 71celcius!!! YIKES!

Wow 50c for idle can't be good, cuz on load it will fly to 80c and what not.

What are your load temps. Aren't these Phenom chips supposed to run cooler then Athlon X2 , Doesn't seem like your OCed either. That's a low voltage.

Its gotta be your HSF , make shure its installed properly and full contact with cpu and just ya make shure its seated correctly follow HSF installation guide. Try new thermal paste too. You should be @ 40c at least, without a OC with a 1.3ish voltage. gl,
