Does ASUS make good laptops?

Thread Starter
I am going to be purchasing an ASUS laptop for about $1200 in the next day or so. My question is, do you guys think that ASUS makes a good product in terms of laptops?

I have read online reviews and they seem to deem the ASUS laptops pretty well but I wanted to hear you all's opinion.

Thanks

I have had mine for 2 months, my previous notebooks were a DeLL, Thinkpad and a Gateway, also have used too many too list. That said Asus is along the lines of "bang for the buck". High performance even Extreme in the smaller sizes. I am very happy with mine, they are even slightly stylish (opinion if you like or dislike). The only area I would bring to your attention is build quality. These are not business class models as such do not have the durability of those. That is not really a knock as it does not claim to be. Mine seems solid and sturdy compared to other consumer class notebooks I have used, I would even say it feels more solid than most. My screen is very bright and crisp, keyboard feels nice.

The only build issue I notice is when I rest my right hand on palm rest it slightly creaks occasionally. Now when it creaks if I lift and push again does not creak so not always. I have made no attempt to fix. This is a very minor point IMHO and does not bother me. I mention as have read in several reviews of different models. It is a very anal point by people looking very critically (reviewing not complaint) many likely really would not even notice.

Wall Street Journal Asia ranks them #1 for what it is worth. See my specs, runs at 106F when surfing and office apps. Stress testing with Orthos highest it goes is 150F. Those are good #'s IMHO.

Also 2year Global warranty and most have free 1year accidental damage. The total package can't be beat. They come with strong in class GPU's above HP, Dell, Lenovo and all others I can think of.

Good luck and Merry Xmass!

I have an ASUS M50VM which I bought back in August when it was released. I have had no problems with it so far except "maybe" loose hinges. I feel that it's becoming loose, but it probably isn't. That is no problem though. I can email ASUS and they'll send me replacement covers.

Laptop has run great so far for me. I recommend them.
