i think i will get another one for sli

BTW i am also getting a 24" LCD with 1920x1200 res... so i will need a performance boost for games like fallout 3, cnc3, crysis, mirror's edge (physx game)

does anyone know if you can use a pci physx card on top of sli... or would it not be worth it?
1920x1200 :

Fallout 3 - Yes
Crysis - No ( Not enough VRAM )
Mirrors Edge - Perhaps

8400GS PCIEx1 £40 - Can run it as a deicated PhysX card along side SLI

what type of a performance increase have others seen with 8800gt's in sli (bandwidth doesn't matter). I am just curious as to mabye about what percentage increase dual 8800gt's produce.

2 GT's in SLI enabled games piss all over a 280GTX.....

Only niggle is Anti-Aliasing, forget about turning on AA with the GT's as it creates the same problem i had when i was running them......

GT SLI AA = performance drop

The GT's while awesome with no AA suffer quite bad with it turned on as there not as efficient at doing AA as the newer cards...

If AA doesn't bother you then your in for a trest

My 3dmark06 score went from a 13350, to 16000 when I added another card for SLI. That itself should speak for the performance increase it will give. The fps show major increases in all areas.

And show major decreases when AA is enabled, they may have alot more shader power in SLI but SLI doesn't improve the performance hit when AA is enabled.

8800GT's take pretty big hits with 4x+AA and no amount of SLI can change that...

I went from 8800GT's in SLI to the 4870 i have now and in terms of overall performance the 4870 is alot smoother and AA performance hit is alot less

As someone who has run an SLI 8800GT rig and as someone who owns a 4870 i can tell you those charts are complete ****...

8xAA on the GT's makes them cry like little girls..... The 4870 laughs at 8xAA

8x is not as big as you think. mabe 5 fps max less then a x16.
