Santa screwed up my PC last night...could use some assistance - Page 2

Run memtest on you RAM.
It may be the HDD - Run memtest see if that gives any errors and check if it runs as slowly as vista - that way we can determine if it's OS-related or hardware...reset your maximum RAM to 4gigs...And try running a HDD benchmark either overnight or in some other OS/environment (is there one for DOS?)

Good luck!

Im running memtest now...and another wierd occurance.
Normally when I run Memtest there is a nice steady count for the "wall time"...well now its counting rather choppy. 1:26 then a couple second pause then 1:32 then a pause...1:40...etc.

Not normal right?

Try checking your hard drive for errors. Your hard drive might be the culprit.

That very well may be my next move...unfortuantely - I'm not entirely sure I can wait until Dec. 25th 2009 for a repair job.

1. RUN system configuration
2. boot tab then advanced options
3. uncheck maximum memory and processors
if that doesnt work back up your junk and reformat.
