Got an HP Mini 1000 for Christmas...

Thread Starter
Extremely excited, but I do have the choice to return it and try another netbook out... are there any other $500-600 netbooks that perform better that this one?

They all seem to use the N270 1.6Ghz Atom CPU. So performance should all be close w/same OS. That HDD is smaller than a lot out there. I don't know what you payed so cannot comment on that. The Asus Eee and MSI Wind are the most popular. In the States you can get the Wind w 120GB HDD for $349.99 NewEgg.

I can't tell you any are really better as I only have read. I am sure the HP is fine but the other 2 get a lot more attention. And to me looks like they all are made at the same factory in China.

Good luck and Merry Xmass.

I have a MSI Wind and love it. Like he said they are cheap, overclock to 2.0 with the push of a button, and install OS X without any problems. The HP is a very sexy netbook and performance is not going to change from one to the other. But I went with the Wind for the above reasons. I love having a 300$ MacBook! Merry X-Mas
