Bad motherboard?!

Thread Starter
Hey,

I just wanted to know, is there something wrong with my motherboard, because when I use dual-channel with my OC, I'll just get BSOD. Single-channel it works great and faster.

Any ideas?

Merry Christmas all!

Have you tried updating the BIOS?

Is this a new overclock setting or has it been running stable at these settings for a while?

Have you tried setting everything to default (ie. removing the overclock settings) and seeing if it still does it? That would tell you if it's the board or the overclock, or at least narrow it down a bit.

What kind of timings and how much voltage have you tried with the RAM? Maybe up the voltage (t0 the factory spec., boards usually undervolt RAM) and loosen the timings a bit first. Could possibly be some bad modules too, try a few passes on memtest.

I'd try updating the BIOS because the P5Q series motherboards have been known to have some bad compatibility with RAM.

BIOS update would work, but there's one problem. I can't do it, because I have any USB thumbdriver.

Other ways to do it?!

BIOS has been updated to latest version. I just tested the dual-channel with overclock and it didn't work very well. In desktop was some line dashes and it wasn't so fast when I used single-channel, but now it's like 10% faster PC and working freaking good with the single-channel.

Biatch, you should test your memory with memtest86 to rule out the memory possibly being bad.
