How do you get CS 1.6 free?

I bet you have all seen that you get CS 1.6 free with downloading steam, but I never found how you actually download the game, and in the store you have to buy it. I have CSS, but I liked 1.6 better, does anybody know how it's done?

Or will I have to buy it? Btw, doesn anyone have 1.6 that they don't use, like ever?

Yeah, you're going to have to pay like $10 for 1.6. I'm pretty sure it's $9.99...

It's not free, and you can't give away games on Steam, unless you buy it give it away as a gift. Once your account activates the game, it's permanently linked to that account. However, someone could give you their Steam account, as long as they don't mind losing ALL the games they have on that account.

That's what I thought, but search around for it, and you will see that some websites claim that you get it free, what I think it is, is that there was a promotion a long time ago, and now it's over lol
