How do I install Stalker SoC & Fallout 3 mods?

Thread Starter
I have the Steam version of Stalker, and the Retail Box of Fallout 3.

I want to install the Float32 mod, and the Lost Odessey mod for SoC

I want to install the HD mod for Fallout 3

How do I go about installing these? Detailed instructions would be nice

Any other good mods?

And was the Lost Odyssey mod for Clear Sky, or is it for SoC too?

Do you mean Oblivion lost? It's for SoC, adds some new features to it. Great mod, but I wouldn't suggest it for your first playthrough, as the difficulty curve is more of a wall than an incline. You'll also be swimming trying to figure out the stock game mechanics, it just adds more confusion to a new player. I'm pretty sure it also requires that you start a new game.

To install mods on SoC, find your steam folder, then click steamapps, common, stalker shadow of chernobyl. open the thing you download, there should be a folder"gamedata", if not, it's buried. Copy then paste the gamedata folder into your stalker shadow of chernobyl folder. In float 32, there is also user.ltx. copy and paste that into your stalker shadow of chernobyl folder. That's it for a single mod.

If you want to install another mod and use all at once, just merge the gamedata folders. If there's conflicts, you're gonna have to figure that one out for yourself.

You won't have to copy the user.ltx every time you use a new mod, the only change is they just change a line that tells the program to go searching for extra content. You'll also have to change your settings after a user.ltx switch, as it also houses your keymap and graphics settings.

If you decide you hate it all, all you have to do is delete the gamedata folder, you can even leave the modded user.ltx. After that, your game is vanilla as can be.

Don't own FO3, so I can't help you there.

Extensive enough?

For Fallout 3 you put the mods in the data folder of the fallout 3 main folder under program files. For the hd pack just drop everything in the data folder(textures, menus, etc). Then go to (hdd used to install fo3)/users/(username)/documents/mygames/fallout3 and edit the.ini from bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1.

Also install this so you don't have to mess with the invalidating text file for textures.

Do you mean go INTO the HD mod folder, copy the textures, menus, etc and paste them into the data folder, or copy that whole HD mod folder into the data folder?

And that thing I download, do I only activate after the mod is in the data folder?
