4870x2 Problems in Xp but not in Vista

Alright lads hopefully someone can shed some light on this problem for me.

I've recently installed the 4870x2 card on my machine, but in WinXP it will not work properly.

3dApps lag and stutter with low framerates, also it detects multiple monitors and displays 4 options as seen below.instead of 2. BluRay won't run as it says there is no HDCP display present.. even though i'm using a 1080i resolution

I've tried drivers catalyst v8.11 and 8.12, i've tried it on a clean WinXP install and my current one, and both give me the same problem.
Default monitor, plug and play monitor and 2options for each.
tried enabling em deleting them etc etc nothing will make one of the sets disappear

But In Vista... everything works fine.
3dmark06 runs and gets the scores it should, blu ray works grand, games run perfectly.

But in xp it stop and stutters, barely scraping 20fps in 3dmark for the first test.

Any ideas?

can't enable any of the other monitors
it says

"crossfirex is enabled please disable before extending the desktop or reassigning the primary adapter"

no option for that either...

got a reply from sapphire tech, i've tried all they suggested and still no joy

"After checked with HQ this is expected behavior.

HD4870X2 is a Gemini board with two ASICs.
Under XP, user will see Display 1,2,3,4, two for primary Asic, two for secondary Asic (or so called headless Asic).
Under Vista, user will only see Display 1, 2 both for primary Asic because Vista allow display driver not to report sources from headless Asic.
Base on O/S limitation, that’s why you see different behavior, thanks.
Under XP , you need to set the resolution to the maximun setting to play 3D applications or games.

And also need to update to SP3 and get all the latest hotfix with windows update.

Also need to update the patch of games or apps.

Your platform looks good with no problem , please only need to update the latest BIOS of your MB.

Thanks.

why XP? Could this be a sign to let it go?

few reasons, few things i use are a no go in vista
and i don't like it.

has nothing to do with "letting it go" it should work regardless
