< $300 Gaming Build?

post #1 of 35
Thread Starter
Could I build a half-arsed gaming rig for under $300? I'm selling some paintball gear to build a new rig by new years -- for the most part, I just want it to be able to run CoD4 and be good with multi tasking. Ex: Photoshop, 10 tabs in firefox, dreamweaver, while playing music & burning a dvd all at the same time... actually I can do that with my current build so I guess that's not asking much. Anyway -- there are a few parts I already have.

I have;

- DVD+RW drive
- monitor
- speakers, mouse, keyboard
- HDD

Appreciate the help.

If reusing my case is the difference between an "ok" processor and a better processor, then I'll reuse it -- although a new one would be nice. Nothing fancy, cheap and w/ a PSU would work.

I was thinking about one of the AMD 64 x2 processors as well, any specific suggestions?
