Odd little problem with Asus A8n-sli deluxe (over 4GB of memory)

Yes I know, its an oldie this day and age. But, I'm re-purposing it and the X2 4400 to run virtual machines.

Anyway, it's been happily chugging along with 2GBs, till today I added 2 more, the bios says 4096 installed, but only 3072 available.

Anyone know why this is? It fully recognizes all 4GBs, but only passes on 3GBs to the OS.

I found some old newegg review that said this motherboard "reserved" any memory over 2GBs for other purposes. But I'd really like all of it if for the VMs, so anyone know how to get the full 4GBs?

Install a 64 bit OS. But make sure you can get all the 64 bit drivers you'll need first.

Not an OS problem, after literally a hour poking around in the BIOS I finally found the improperly named menu to turn off the "feature" Turns out Asus didn't think anyone would use over 3GB back when this was made and reserved the extra 1GB for motherboard functions.

BIOS now reports the full 4GB and passes it off to the OS.
