Intel E7400

Thread Starter
Hello everybody, I'm new at overclock.net, but not new at overclocking. I've just changed from my E6600 (which I was stuck at 3.33GHz), but now I'm running my E7400 @ 4GHz easily.

But there's the problem. I can do it @ 1.45V BIOS and 1.34V Windows at 400x10. Anything pass 400 it crashes within 2 minutes. I even tried 1.5V at 400+ (yes, thats insane for 45). Any suggestions?

PC in signature.

****. So that's just the mobo's fault? But I always get an error 0x0000124 (isn't this just a scream form CPU that it isn't getting enough voltage?)

And what about the pencil mod? Where can I find one?

the pencil mod it's something dangerous....i don't recomend pencil mod but it's the last hope.......yes the cpu doesn't get enough overvoltage....you can damage you pc with that kind of overvoltage.but try this.try to put the freq when you overclokc rams freq 33/66 an the pcie express at 100 mhz do not select the sync with cpu option see if it works

I have PCI-E at 100, but don't have a sync option in BIOS. I know that the procesor wil degrade at more than 1.45V (but I don't worry since at full load the voltahe is 1.336V). How do people get processors like E8400 @ 4GHz+ at 1.27V etc.? Do they all use vmods?

no they don't use vmods i have an intel pentium 4 HT and i keep it at 4.0 the vcore is 1.2 at 4.2 the vcore it's still 1.2 but it's not stable my bios doesn't have a vmode but from 3 stock to 4.0 it's much and i don't need to overvoltage the cpu the same is e 8400 but they use overvoltage cause the 8400 cpu it's not an HT so those who oc the 8400 have very powerfull mobo

How can the mobo influence on voltage? If I set the voltage on P5KC at 1.3v then it's the same if I do it on Asus Rampage Extreme II at 1.3v. Or is it?

why?cause some mobo's can handle high cpu freq at 1.3 and others mobo's can't handle the same high freq at 1.3 like other mobo's......and one more thing the chipset it's very important if you have a via chipset the overclock will go very hard.if you an nvidia chipset for example p5 PRO and all the P5 mobo's you will easily get high cpu freq with less vcore
