try dropping your Overclocks i had my 9800gt stable for 4 hours with furmark at 740 / 1800 / 900. It wasn't stable for 30 minutes when i would play a game. Drop your coreclock down to 720 and try

Yeah, unfortunately they wont take it =[

I think I should have lied and said I didnt put the cooler on and just replace the old cooler.

Its not the overclock thats doing it, it does these artifacts on stock settings. It might be my GFX ram or something, like what CyberBoy said before. This sucks =[

Well I really don't know what happened but my card appears to be OK now, not really sure what was up. I reseated the cooler on the problematic card and it seems to be fine now. I only get graphics crashes when its overclocked but I might not be stable so the card might not be damaged after all. Anyway, its working, so I have no idea what caused it and I'm glad its gone now !

Thanks for the advice guys.

I tested each card and they were both stable at 738/1728/900 and didnt artifact. I cant tell if its a driver issue or something. Also when i do 3DMark 06, i get little or no improvement on my scores. The last 2 times, the test has failed because of the artifacts. I have also tried the gpus both at stock with the same problem.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and also what the best driver is for 8800GT SLI.
you OC'ed those too much......
some cards could handle those clocks and some dont.
unfortunately your card seems dont handle well.....
i would sugest to lower the clock and stress the card again

About the crappy 3Dmark score in SLI, it is because of your monitor. 15" isn't really taking advantage of anything. You would need a larger, widescreen reso to see any real benefit.

Yeah I know, I was going to take my rig round to my friends where he has a 37" HD tv ready for me to bench on. I think I'll be doing it on the weekend ! Should be good. I really need a new monitor This one is about 9 years old, still has really good colour depth though. Just no high res at all

Maybe the cards just needed to be reseated in the PCIe slots.
