in game mouse issue

i just got far cry 2 but whenever i enter the game my mouse immediately points up and to the left and stays there. so essentially all i can do is look straight up and spin. it is fine in the menus but it wont do anything in game. i have tried reinstalling the game, updating the game, and updating windows with no luck. my video card drivers are up to date and so are my mouse and keyboard drivers. a google search turned up nothing useful. does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

update: i just installed fallout 3 and it is doing the same exact thing. ive tried a couple other games and they seem fine.

I would uninstall the mouse driver and just use the standard windows version of the driver, see if that helps.
