Just get Raid 0 Wd 640 and you will be very happy and if you need more speed you can add one more.

What about access time? Most SSD's come with a 0.1ms access time which is a lot less when compared than the VelociRaptors.

I've personally been looking at the Intel X-25M SSD's, there's supposed to be no errors/lag, and it's 80GB. The 160GB versions of the X-25M should also be released pretty soon.....

Looks like the ocz is a pretty decent performer. Doesnt hurt trying =) it will probably give you an improvement in boot time. by the way, have you looked at the OCZ core series SSDs?

isn't it better to have better access time rather than read time for OS boot

Intel's are very very expensive nearly £400 compared with the £60 in OCZ, either that or there's something seriously wrong with the OCZ ones lol, what have you read about them? any major issues?

yes, V2 is newer and much faster than V1. V2 also comes in larger sizes. V2 is the core series i talked about. its seek/write/read times are MUCh faster than a velociraptor, but it comes at a cost =)

i require roughly 600gb but i would like to have 1tb of real space.

what would you recommend me?

30gb SSD for OS + 640 gb Western Digital Caviar Black?

2x640gb Western Digital Caviar Black?

1tb Samsung F1 SpinPoint?

what would you do if you were in my situation?

i'm mainly looking for speed rather than space. i'd like a quick start up mainly

thanks in advance.
Get one SSD 30gb for your OS, and 2 of those 640 gb Western Digital Caviar Black In raid 0.
Edit: I am also getting a Ocz V2 core serial 30 gb for my OS, too.

cheers for your advice, any reason why you are going for the Version 2 over the value series? it's half the price and only around 15mbps read slower and 5mpbs write slower

Yep It's half of the price of other SSDs for just a little bit slower. the thing i like about the SSDs is their access time. It won't take more than 10 second to load vista.

yeh that would be sweet. but i mean't why are you getting the OCZ V2 SSD when the OCZ Value SSD is literally half the price of the V2 and only slightly slower in Read and Write speeds.

Click Me why not get the red ones over the green ones you are looking at?

they both hold 2 year warrenty too.

SSD die really fast when they read and write alot like what happens with a OS. Only expect like 2 years out of a good one.
