Ram mismatch?

Thread Starter
Someone gave me some Corsair XMS2 (1gbx2), and I've got G.Skill PC2 6400 (1gbx2) in it now. The timing on the first is 5-5-5-18, and the g.skill is 4-4-4-12. Should i change the timing on one to match the other,or leave as is, or return the new ram and buy...something i don't need? Thanks.

dont mix up different rams
a lot of ppl have problems with them =/
if anything go back and buy another kit of them gskills and get rid of the corsair(or other way around, i just figured gskills have tighter timings.)

There may be nothing that says you "can't" mismatch RAM...but I don't really think it's a good idea. You may run in to voltage problems or other issues when running 2 different brands with 2 different speeds and latencies. ie: the 5-5-5-18 may have trouble running at the 4-4-4-12 settings at the same voltage or vice versa.

If they had matching stats...then it would be less of a issue...but I wouldnt run them in an overclocked system with mismatching stats

really, listen to the people above, running mismatched ram just leads to ram failure and many many blue screens

Right then. The G.Skill is better anyway. I'll just see if I can get store credit for them, and get.....something....

Thanks
