I just have some old digital speakers, 2.0. I was looking to upgrade to something with high fidelity.

There is no way to get true surround sound in digital with this sound card.
How can i get true surround sound with this card?

It would just be in analog. One jack would do one to three speakers, the next would do one to three, etc. But it won't be a digital signal.

Well, which would be superior? True surround or dobly digital?
I recommend Logitech Z-5500. To get true 5.1 out of those you use the 6 channel direct cables which are supplied with the XtremeMusic (orange, black, and green cables). Those plug right into the Z-5500 control pod and you will have pure 5.1 from games, music and movies. No emulation.

And the difference between analog and digital on those speakers is negligible. I've tried both, and honestly could not tell the difference.

*EDIT* The 6 channel cables are actually supplied with the speakers, my mistake. But here is where you plug them into the control pod on the Z-5500:

And then they output from 3 of the analog jacks on the back of the sound card.
