Which Quad Core should I buy?

Thread Starter
I'm up in the air over this question. I know the extreme editions are out and so is the Q9650. They are all a little too much. I've got an E6600 C2D right now, but I'm really dying for a quad core. I need to know which one provides the best performance and best overclocking abilities. I'm leaning Q9300, but the 9550 has an extra 6MB of L2. Will that make up for the $60 price difference? I'm not really worried about the GHz, since I know I can just turn up the clock.

Q9300 are not really good overclockers because of the multi so go for the q9550

Agree, though with the UD3P mobo the Q9300 will OC alright, but the Q9550 will scream.

Love my 9550, and everyone else does here too. I'd get it.

www.lagoom.com guarantees steppings so you can get the E0 even though C1s are still hitting 4 ghz.

Point taken on the 9550. Best quad under $400 right now would you say? Or is there one I should get my greedy hands on that may be discontinued/not in stock?

I would say it is the best bang for the buck on quads for sure. Not sure how it would act with your mobo, but you can search around and find that out. This chip is rarely the reason for bottlenecking when it comes to OCing, and that's why I'd get it.

When you check out you put it in the customer comments. That is how I got mine, so I know it works. You can even email support for more information like I did just to make sure.

I just didn't want to gamble with the egg or pay more just for this stepping.
